In 1994 Matt featured in an ice cream commercial for Germany and had small roles in the Australian television series 'Mirror Mirror' and the New Zealand / Australian co-production 'Secrets' with Beth Champion, Danni Minouge, Willa O Neil, Noah Taylor and Malcolm Kinard.

Eventully Matt migrated to Australia to stay with new found friend Beth in Sydney, to check out the acting scene and for a bit of a break. A small stint on The Peter Jackson horror film 'Brain Dead' was just the iceing on the cake for a rather eventful year. After returning from Australia Matt landed some larger roles in television playing a rouge Brad Pitt type character, in the medical drama Shortland Street. Matt was also cast as Casey Rainer the moody cowboy in 'Riding High', a TV drama, starring in five eposodes where he was caught drugging his horse to end his characters riding career in the show.
